How To Trade Prop Accounts In 5 Steps:

Follow This Plan For Weekly Payouts​

Step 1 – Get Funded

​

Pass the trading challenge aggressively → take more risk, trade larger size, and target profits quickly because you have a specific profit target to reach. The objective is to get funded fast.

​

Pass your challenge: 1–3 days
Starting balance: $50k

​

Step 2 – Trade Micros

 

Once funded, the approach changes.

Trade the funded account conservatively → protect the account, reduce risk, take only high-quality setups, and focus on consistency.

​

A trading challenge is about reaching the target.

A funded account is about protecting the capital.

 

Profit target daily: $250
Max loss per day: −$250
Max losing days/week: 1

 

Step 3 – Group Trading

​

Group trading is when you trade multiple accounts simultaneously by copying the same trades across each account. You're making the same trading decisions and putting in the same effort, but the potential return is multiplied across multiple accounts.

​

In essence, you're getting paid multiple times for the same work while keeping the individual account risk small.

 

The numbers

 

If you have 4 profitable days at +$250 and 1 losing day at −$250 each week:

4 × $250 = +$1,000

1 × −$250 = −$250

Net weekly profit = $750 per account

​

This means:

Profit target daily: $250
Max loss per week: −$250
Net profit target weekly: $750

 

With 10 PA accounts:

$750 × 10 = $7,500 per week

And remember — these are micro contract trading results.

Step 4 – Build the Buffer

​

Let's assume a $2,000 buffer is required on each $50k account. Every prop firm is different, the buffer is the average across all platforms.

​

Your account progression would look like this:

After Week 1: $50,750
After Week 2: $51,500
After Week 3: $52,250 — Buffer met

​

By the end of Week 3, you've built the required $2,000 buffer.

Across 10 accounts, that's approximately $20,000 in cumulative trading profits used to establish the buffer.

 

Step 5 – Withdraw Profits

​

Once the buffer has been established, you can start working towards withdrawals while continuing to meet the firm's payout and consistency requirements.

​

With 10 accounts, a $750 weekly profit per account gives you:

$7,500 gross profit per week

 

At an 80/20 split, that's:

$6,000 to you per week

​

Here's how the account progression looks:

Starting balance $50,000

​

After Week 1: $50,750 — Building buffer

After Week 2: $51,500 — Building buffer

After Week 3: $52,250 — $2,000 Buffer met

After Week 4: $52,750 — $600 First payout

After Week 5: $52,750 — $600 Payout

After Week 6: $52,750 — $600 Payout

After Week 7: $52,750 — $600 Payout

After Week 8: $52,750 — $600 Payout

The $2,000 buffer remains in the account and is not withdrawn.

8-Week Result

​

Weeks 1–3 → Build the buffer
Week 4 → First payout of $6,000 across 10x PA accounts.
Weeks 5–8 → $6,000/week

 

Total gross withdrawals: $37,500
Your 80% share: $30,000
Firm's 20%: $7,500

 

That's $30,000 paid to you over 8 weeks, across 10 PA accounts, while keeping the $2,000 buffer in each account.
